Despite what some might think, Philadelphia has more to offer than just its cheesesteaks. For real, it does! Our city is also home to some great breweries and taverns. Don’t believe me? Find out for yourself! Join the PHL Distance Walkers this Saturday, July 18th, as they walk all the way from Lloyd Hall to breweries and taverns all over town.

Here’s the deal: Participants will meet at Lloyd Hall, located at 1 Boathouse Row at 10 a.m., then they’ll make their way through up through Brewerytown and across the city all the way to Yard’s Brewery for an informational tour of its wind-powered brewing facility. Next, walkers will stop for an ice-cold beer of their choice at the historic City Tavern in Old City. To wrap up, they’ll make their way to Philly’s oldest tavern, McGillin’s Olde Ale House in Midtown Village for a bar special. Guys, it was founded the same year Lincoln was president (that’s 1860, if you’re not a history buff). Pretty cool, huh?

This six-mile walk is an all-day extravaganza (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and walkers should expect to go at a pace of three miles per hour. This walk is limited to 20 people and a ticket will run you $13 but Be Well Philly readers get a a $2 discount (just put in the code “BeWellPhilly”). You can find more information about the walk and sign up here.
