With the Broad Street Run registration lottery set to close this Friday at 11:59 p.m., and the winners announced next Tuesday, I wanted to take this opportunity — weeeeeelll ahead of time — to remind you that charity bibs are still available for the May 3rd race.

Why the heads up now, you ask? Good question: I have it on good authority from folks in the know that charity slots for Broad Street Run bibs tend to sell out fast once the lottery winners are announced. So if you’ve been considering running for charity, you might want to reserve your spot now, while you still can.

“The demand for charity bibs has increased significantly in recent years,” says Dianna Coscette, community manager for the American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation race-training program. “Last year, our race bibs were all taken within 24 hours after the lottery-announcement email.”

See? Told you.

The nice thing about going the charity-bib route is that it allows you to sidestep the lottery process all together. This year, there are four charity options available. Runners must commit to raising at least $500 for their charity cause. In addition to race entry, they’re also given a handful of creative perks, like VIP packet pickup, pre-race training and more, which vary depending on the organization. See details below:

American Cancer Society: Perks include hospitality areas at the start and finish line; professional pre-race coaching, including weekly group runs and training plans; a pre-race dinner with other DetermiNation runners; and more.

Fairmount Park Conservancy: Perks include membership to the Fairmount Park Conservancy; six guided training runs with a local running coach; happy hours; discounts at Philadelphia Runner; entry to a post-race party at FDR Park; and more.

Back On My Feet: Perks include post-race massages and a party; group training runs; team shirts; and discounted entry to the Back On My Feet 5-miler on March 28th.

Students Run Philly Style: Perks include VIP packet pickup at the Expo; a team technical t-shirt; group runs; invitation for two to a pre-Broad Street pasta party; and 15 percent off registration to the 2015 Generation Run, Students Run Philly Style’s signature 5K.
