Free Phrosty 5K Fun Run Hits the Wissahickon This Weekend

Remember last month when we told you about the new Facebook group, iRunTheHill, for Chestnut Hill-area runners? Well, the group now officially has over 300 fans, so to celebrate and bring everyone together, organizers Schuyler Nunn and Amy Martine-Carolla are putting together a free 5K fun run in the Wissahickon this weekend.

They’ve roped in Balance Chestnut Hill and Cedars House Cafe—along with Schuyler’s own Indigo Schuy boutique in Chestnut Hill—to sponsor the inaugural iRunTheHill Phrosty 5K on Saturday. They’ll be handing out jingle bells for runners to tie to their sneakers, but you’re encouraged to get even more festively attired; a prize will be given to the most holiday-rific outfit. Cedars House will be handing out hot cocoa and oatmeal cookies after the run, and all participants will get a free class voucher for Balance Chestnut Hill and 10 percent off one item at Indigo Schuy.

The run kicks off at 8 a.m. sharp at the Cedars House Cafe on Forbidden Drive, but people will begin gathering around 7:30. It’s free, as I mentioned, but they’re taking signups over at Balance’s website. Sign up here. (Click the Events tab.)
