Reminder: Philly Naked Bike Ride 2013 Is on Sunday (Video)

I would like to give everyone a semi-last-minute heads up (warning?) that the annual clothing-discouraged Philly Naked Bike Ride is happening on Sunday. The route and starting location haven’t been announced yet—participants will get an email tomorrow with final instructions—but it has been confirmed that the ride will begin at around 4 p.m. and last about two hours. The ending point is Northern Liberties, in the dirt lot near the Piazza, across Germantown Avenue.

“The Piazza does not want any naked people on their premises,” said an email sent from PNBR organizers earlier this week. The after-party will be at PYT, “but people will have to be clothed before they head over,” it says.

And while clothing is absolutely, positively optional, organizers stress that participants should wear shoes at all times: “Our starting location would make your feet hurty if you don’t wear shoes, and if something happens to you or your bike and you need to walk it, you really don’t want to be walking through the city without your shoes on.” Good point.

If you’re really dying to know where you can catch a glimpse of a couple hundred people riding without clothes on (or, you know, if you want to know what places to avoid on Sunday), here are the organizers’ suggested locations from which to gawk (which, obviously, hint at the actual route for the ride):

• Rittenhouse Square

• City Hall (at South Penn Square, near the Ritz apartments)

• Logan Circle

• LOVE Park

• Independence Mall (5th and 6th at Market Street)

• Liberty Lands Park

• Broad and Spring Garden streets

Here’s a video from last year’s ride to get you, um, excited.
