What It Means to Be a Health Hero

Our very first Health Hero, Holy Redeemer breast surgeon Beth DuPree, writes about what it meant to be honored in our Health Hero Challenge.

I am humbled to have been voted Be Well Philly’s first Health Hero. Representing the health and wellness of Philadelphia has been an honor. The energy of the competition was exhilarating, and the other nominees were so passionate about their causes that I found myself wanting to vote for them, too! Getting to see what matters to Philly and meet the individuals in person was fantastic.

The $2,500 donation to The Healing Consciousness Foundation is being used to provide education and personal guidance to breast cancer “thrivers” to help them make positive changes in their lives to prevent cancer recurrence. Be Well Philly Health Hero Challenge is helping to make Philadelphia a healthier place to live!
