Today: 1818 Market Street Is Renamed, Becomes Beneficial’s Corporate Headquarters

At 1 p.m. today, a crowd will gather in the lobby of the high-rise 1818 Market Street to hear the mayor and assorted real estate and business luminaries give details of the building’s newest arrival: Beneficial Bank. The oldest and largest Philadelphia-based bank will make 1818 its corporate headquarters, and will rename the building 1818 Beneficial Bank Place.

The lobby will get new signage today, and exterior signage will come in the next few months. The 40-story building was erected in 1974 and designed by renowned Philadelphia firm Ewing Cole. It was renovated in 1991 and 2003.
