Home: At Home With Denise Fike

Her home: Our house was built in 1835. A direct descendant of Emily Dickinson owned it. I bought it because it had this tiny little closet in the fireplace that just enchanted me. My husband liked the brass door knockers.

Her Art: I adore high heels. I wear them when I walk to Drexel in the morning. I love the ladies that line the tiny hallway in my circular staircase. About ten paintings creep up the stairs and fill the space.

Her kitchen: When we decided to redesign the kitchen, my husband bought the bases of the cabinets at The Home Depot and designed cabinet doors with reversible center insets that I can paint and repaint, so it’s not a major hassle for him if I have another capricious whim.
