Study: Philly Has Room for One More Casino

Says state revenue increase would be sizable.

CBS Philly reports that a private consultant has told the Pennsylvania Legislature that Philadelphia has room for one more casino.

Stephen Mullin, president of Econsult Solutions, presented his report last week on the future of gaming in Pennsylvania to the Legislative Budget and FinanceCommittee.

“We do believe that we’re not near the saturation point,” Mullin says. “We do believe that the Philadelphia metropolitan area market is very, very large and it can have more supply without having anywhere near a net cannibalization.”

The state is still considering whether to issue a second casino license for Philadelphia; last week, we suggested Philadelphia consumers already have plenty of choice.
