Miracle on South 13th Street Lights Up on Saturday

This South Philly block is home to one of the best holiday displays around.

When Travel + Leisure named South Philly’s Miracle on South 13th Street the best Christmas lights in Pennsylvania in 2015, it was only a matter of time before the block attracted a corporate sponsor. Samsung stepped in this year to turn the houses into “smart holiday homes,” which means the over-the-top decorations and thousands of twinkling lights lining the 1600 block of South 13th Street are controlled by Samsung SmartThings devices. But for us visitors stopping by to snap selfies with inflatable reindeer, Miracle on South 13th Street should look like the same South Philly gem it does every Christmas season — save a Samsung logo or two.

Since Christmas season is well underway, it’s time to light that block up. The ceremony is set for Saturday, November 26th, from 5-7 p.m., with Santa (and Samsung reps) in attendance, a North Pole moon bounce and a life-sized snow globe. The lighting will be at 5:30 p.m.

Miracle on South 13th Street will be up until January 1. If you haven’t been, these photos from last year will give you an idea what you’re missing:
