When To Visit Longwood Gardens’ Nightscape Light Show This Fall

Once word got out about Longwood Gardens’ dazzling Nightscape: A Light and Sound Experience, it was a no-brainer that legions of Longwood devotees and newbies alike would rush to pencil-in reservations for the illuminated masterpiece. And while a visit to the nighttime light show is a treat on its own, to be sure, there’s also some strategic planning one can undertake to ensure a truly unforgettable evening: namely, attending one of the Garden’s many complementary events, ranging from live music in the newly-opened beer garden to family-friendly outings. Get out your calendars, folks.

Live Music in the Beer Garden // Every Thursday through October 31, 7pm to 9pm

Swing by the beer garden before or after your Nightscape visit for some after-hours live music. Every Thursday, guests will be treated to a variety of entertainment including bluegrass, gypsy jazz, soul music and acoustic experimental pop depending on the evening (see the schedule here). During the performances, sit back and enjoy one of their exclusive Victory Brewing Company pints.

Artist & Friends // August 14, 7pm to 9pm; September 11, 7pm to 9pm; October 9, 7pm to 9pm

A monthly speaker series, Artist & Friends welcomes visitors to Longwood Gardens to hear the inspiration behind Nightscape with its creator, Ricardo Rivera of Klip Collective, along with a duo of industry creatives and technologists. The panel will discuss all of the innovative design, music and technology that culminate with the impressive light show. Afterward, guests are welcome to ask the panelists questions. Each event is comprised of different experts (see the schedule here).

Family Nights // August 19, 6pm to 8pm

Though the beer garden is certainly a welcomed adult addition, there’s still plenty of entertainment to be had for little ones. At 7pm, families are invited to the East Conservatory Plaza for a kid-friendly musical performance by John Flynn. Meanwhile, brush up on your sleuthing skills at the seek-and-find scavenger hunt taking place Gardens-wide from 6pm to 8pm.

Gardens on Tap // September 16, 7pm to 9pm; October 21, 7pm to 9pm

Only open through Nightscape’s run, October 31st, Longwood Gardens’ new beer garden is your opportunity swig brew amongst the flora and fauna. During “Gardens on Tap”, visitors can learn how art, science and horticulture combine for artisanal cocktails and beer. On September 16, visit for mixology night to see the garden-plucked ingredients of your favorite concoctions. Or, on October 21, meet the brewer of Longwood Gardens’ signature brews including the expertly crafted Longwood Seasons: Summer Zest and Longwood Seasons: Autumn Harvest (both seasonally available).
