Bringing some rustic bonhomie to the Gayborhood’s main drag is Zavino, a welcome entry to our burgeoning pizza scene. Although Steve Gonzalez’s menu is relatively spare, it offers variety; a handful of seasonal entrees like a gnocchi with pork ragu, delish roasted veggies and traditional cocktails from the bar. But the heart of Zavino is pizza and wine. The pies range from minimalist (the Rosa, simply topped with red sauce, garlic, and oregano) to hearty (the Philly, Gonzalez’s take on the cheesesteak, although without wiz, natch) and friendly bartenders pour the vins.
