I doubt we need to explain to you, lovely readers, why bridal manicures are a valuable topic of conversation: We’ll venture to guess that ever since that rock landed on your left hand, your nails have been perfectly painted and at the ready should anyone ask to see your new ring.

And when it comes to manicures for your Big Day, we’re big fans of nail art. A hint of glitter on your ring finger, a subtle chevron design or even your groom’s initials are a few of our favorite ways to mix up your classic pale pink bridal mani.

We’ve taken the liberty of rounding up a few of Philly’s more luxe-y nail salons that we happen to know turn out some seriously fabulous designs, just in case you’re not too sure your usual corner spot has got a wedding-worthy design ready for your Big Day.

If you do choose to have a little extra something painted onto your nails, please do send us pictures!

Read on to find out where to get your nails done for your wedding day, then head to our wedding vendor directory to explore even more awesome local wedding vendors to help you plan your Big Day.

Heritage Nails
Where: 2000 Hamilton Street #108, Fairmount
What: So, this NoLibs salon is actually your pretty standard spot, but their nail art is so amazing (it won them Best of Philly this year) that we just had to put them on this list. You’ll want to schedule your pre-wedding mani with their expert artist Hani, whose endless repertoire of designs has something for every style of bride. We love her geometric patterns, which can be toned down with pretty pastels for your walk down the aisle.

Lacquer Lounge
Where: 501 Fitzwater Street, Queen Village and 2051 Walnut Street, Rittenhouse
What: One quick peek at Lacquer Lounge’s Facebook page and you’ll see that the shop’s talented team has been cranking out holiday nail art designs left and right. For your Big Day, opt for something simple but pretty like half moons or thin chevrons. Lacquer has had plenty of brides do something special just on their ring finger, too (we love a good coat of glitter!).

Mi Cumbia
Where: 328 South 17th Street, Rittenhouse
What: The organic manicures and pedicures at this lively salon are enough to keep you coming back, but do yourself a favor check out their nail art offerings too. The ladies here love to play around with color—owner Karina Restrepo even makes a few of the hues herself—and their matte manicure is a favorite among returning clients.

The Polished Spa
Where: 221 Conestoga Road, Wayne
What: This darling spa and boutique in Wayne is worth a visit just to check out the gifts and knick knacks they have for sale (perfect for bridesmaid gifts). While you’re here, grab a seat in Jenny’s chair and have her coat your nails in a chic ombre design for the Big Day.

Rescue Spa
Where: 1601 Walnut Street, 3rd Floor, Rittenhouse
What: We can attest to the amazing work of Sally Stark (you may know her as Sally Man—she got married in October 2013 and we featured her wedding in our Fall/Winter 2014 issue!) Rescue’s licensed nail technician and nail art extraordinaire. Whether you want a delicate design in classic bridal colors or something snazzy that’ll really make your engagement ring pop, Stark’s steady hand has you covered.
