PW Reader Ring: Danielle & Derek!

Danielle’s ring!

The couple: Danielle Autio and Derek Fetterman from Marlton.

The ring: My ring is a round-cut diamond with a diamond halo in a platinum setting with a diamond band. It was created by owner Dominic D. Giancaterino, Jr. from Tilford Jewelry Manufacture on Sansom Street in Philadelphia. Derek designed the ring all by himself after receiving many pictures and clues from me over the years, though he decided he wanted to bring my mom and best friend along for some extra advice.

The proposal: Last spring, Derek planned a wine cruise that left from San Diego and ended in Vancouver. On the third night of the trip he rented a car and we drove to Napa Valley. I didn’t know what to expect, but he had set up a private tour at the Nickel & Nickel Winery. At the end of the tour, he took me on a private garden path where he got down on one knee and proposed. We were finally engaged!

After we had called our friends and family, he took me inside the winery, where a private chef made us dessert, and we had some of the best wine in the world. I still can’t believe how special Derek made the proposal. I thought I was in a dream!

The band: I think I might want a criss-cross wedding band that matches the setting of my engagement ring. I’m not really sure yet, but I’m looking forward to shopping for them together!
