Chris Matthews Pulled a Jon Stewart on GOP’s Reince Priebus

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews interviewed GOP chair Reince Priebus at the Republican National Convention on Monday morning. Typically, interviews like that one stick to a certain set of rules where everyone remains in character. That wasn’t the case on Monday.

The Daily Beast’s Peter Beinhart equated the incident to when Jon Stewart verbally lambasted Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson a few years back.

It reminded me of Carlson’s plea to Stewart: “I thought you were going to be funny. Be funny.” Essentially: get back in character. Don’t you know we’re all just playing a game here?
