Stephen Starr Restaurant Timeline

When Pizzeria Stella opens tomorrow it will mark the 18th restaurant for Stephen Starr and that’s not even counting his cafeteria and catering operations. So we thought it might be fun to look at the the building of the SRO empire in colorful infographic form.

Adore this rainbow brite-esque parabolic graphic. Strong work.

  • brown

is he still involved with chelsea prime / tepiztky’s at this point?

    • Foobooz

No he’s not but since they haven’t closed I didn’t want to drop the arc back to the axis. I tried to denote his lack of involvement by making the line gray.

  • Chunk

    Should Rats be on this?

    • Foobooz

It isn’t listed on the Starr Restaurant Organization web site and has been defined as “management deal.” So I don’t think that quite counts.

  • Booberry

I’m trying to remember Republic. Was it the Stalin themed bar where L2 is now?

    • Foobooz

Yep, that was Republic. There were pickled eggs on the bar and if I’m not mistaken, the waitresses wore black leather pants and fuzzy red sweaters.

  • theRizzer

Ok, so my question is this… who made this cool image? It’s really a nice little bit of clean information design.

And btw, isn’t it amusing how much quicker these come up as time goes on? Probably speaks to the profitability and focus the organization has. And the ability/strength to call it quits if one isn’t working out.

    Very cool.

    • Foobooz

Who made the image? We did. Interesting analysis on the accelerating pace of SRO.

  • Bobby

Trust? (pre El Vez I think).

    • Foobooz

Trust was not a Stephen Starr restaurant. It was a Guillermo Pernot restaurant.

  • matt

    Well done, Foobooz. Killer infographic.

  • greg

Isn’t Barclay Prime the Starr rest., not Butcher & Singer?

  • rory

Greg–both are starr locales, and both are on the timeline.

  • Natasha

Stella Rocks! Stopped in for a quick pizza last nite and it was fantastic. The tomato sauce is a clear gem with a crust equally on par. Happily saying Adios to the diet…

  • Foodie

Nice graphic but you are missing one.
    Shake Burger and Roll.
He and his partner from the Bank had a 50s themed burger joint in Ardmore.
