5 Philly Fitness Events to Have on Your Radar This Weekend

It's a climbing, running and yoga-filled weekend here in Philly.

This weekend is particularly filled with fitness fun, so mark your calendars, make the proper arrangements and take it easy at happy hour this Friday — you need to be fresh for the weekend ahead! Here, your guide to having a fitness-filled weekend in Philly.

Namas Day
When: Saturday, March 25th, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: WHYY, 150 North 6th Street, Independence Mall
A shoutout to all my yogis! This annual event is filled with workshops, master classes and informative sessions with hopes of bringing together and celebrating Philly’s community of yogis.

Back on My Feet 5-Miler
When: Saturday, March 25th at 8 a.m.
Where: The Schuylkill Trail Connector, Art Museum Area
Back on My Feet is an organization that aims to combat homelessness by empowering folks through running, community support and by providing housing and employment resources. Proceeds from this race (which ends with food trucks awaiting you, by the way) will benefit Back on My Feet. Added bonus: At half the distance and six weeks out, it’s a great training race for Broad Street Run!

Big Climb Boot camp with CoreFitness at the Linc
When: Saturday, March 25th, 9 a.m.
Where: Lincoln Financial Field, South Philly
CoreFitness is hosting a free practice climb in preparation for and to make people aware of Big Climb Philly, a 41-flight, 500-feet vertical climb to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And get this: This weekend’s practice climb will be held on the stadium steps at Lincoln Financial Field, with an optional tour of the Eagles locker room post-climb. In order to join in the sweaty workout fun at the Linc, you have to be registered for Big Climb Philly, which you can do here. Note: Free parking is available for the climb this weekend at Lincoln Financial Field.

The 100,000-Calorie Climb
When: Saturday, March 25th, 11 a.m.
Where: Eakins Oval, Art Museum- Area
#MyCityMoves and Run215 are are teaming up to gather as many Philly folks as possible to climb the Art Museum steps this weekend, fitness flash mob-style, in hopes of burning around 100,000 calories, collectively. The group will climb, and climb, and — you guessed it! — climb until they reach their goal. Oh, and it’s free!

The Love Run
When: Sunday, March 26th at 7:30 a.m.
Where: 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Art Museum-Area
The Love Run is the spring running event here, in Philly (aside from the Broad Street Run, of course). This half marathon will take you through familiar Center City streets, ending the 13.1 miles at a blowout finish-line fest.
