Schuylkill River Trail Is Getting Its Own Beer

Sly Fox Beer is releasing a beer that's dedicated to the SRT.

Well, this is pretty sweet. Or, er, hoppy. Pottstown-based Sly Fox Beer is releasing a special beer later this spring to benefit the Schuylkill River Trail. It’s called — wait for it — the SRT Ale.

It’s described as “a golden, delicious, hop-forward American Pale Ale, and at 4.7% alcohol by volume, it’s designed to be the perfect post-activity beer.” A portion of the proceeds from the beer’s sales will go toward maintenance and improvement efforts of the 130-mile Schuylkill River Trail.

The canned beer will be available at local distributors on Earth Day, which is Wednesday, April 22nd. Leading up to the release, Sly Fox reps will set out on a five-day, 126.2-mile trek—by bike and kayak, on horseback and foot—down the Schuylkill River Trail, leaving from Pottsville en route to Philly toting a larger-than-life beer can. They’ll stop along the way for organized trash cleanups to improve certain segments of the trail. The journey ends at the Schuylkill Banks for a final cleanup and launch celebration.

Local businesses and members of the public are encouraged to join in. You can sign up to join the trek here.
