Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Take a break from the holiday mayhem this week and tumble down the rabbit hole. Quintessence Theatre Group presents Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic tale. An Evening with Bill Nye
Yup, as in The Science Guy. Satisfy your inner-geek this Tuesday at the Merriam Theater with An Evening with Bill Nye. Everyone's favorite nerd will discuss everything from his latest book–Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation–to the show that scored 18 Emmy's. Bowties optional. Morris County
Calling all cinephiles and scary movie enthusiasts: The Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art (PhilaMOCA) will host a free screening of the locally produced horror-meets-drama flick, Morris County, this Tuesday evening. By award-winning writer and director Matthew Garrett, the film "presents a trilogy of thematically connected stories as gruesome as they are tragic and heartfelt." For more information, click here. Pay-What-You-Wish-Wednesday at PMOA
The after-hours Wednesday programming at Philadelphia Museum of Art is extra jolly this week, with a special holiday card making workshop. Art supplies and everything you need to make a Pintrest-worthy festive card will be provided. Plus, explore the galleries and take a look at some of the museum's greatest treasures on "The Masterpieces" tour, or join the ultimate scavenger hunt–The Wednesday Night Look Around–for a chance to win prizes. The Santaland Diaries
If you've been mumbling "bah humbugs" under your breath since the first of the month and feel yourself dangerously close to stabbing your neighbors blow-up Santa, you're not alone. Flashpoint Theatre Company is bringing The Santaland Diaries to the stage, a hilarious comedy written by the master of sarcasm and ultimate cynic himself–David Sedaris. Directed by Matt Pfeiffer, the show follows the main character, Crumpet, "at his new full-time job as a Macy’s elf and serves up the antidote to your holiday bitterness." Reindeer Romp
Don your most festive pair of party pants and prepare to get good and jolly at the 17th annual Reindeer Romp bar crawl, all for a great cause. Crawlers can head to the 12 participating locations in no particular order, enjoying great drink specials all evening long, including $3 seasonal craft brews courtesy of Sam Adams. No need to worry about walking: a complimentary trolley will provide transportation to stops along the crawl. Admission ($10 and a toy) will benefit Feel The Warmth and Children's Hospital. Mosey over to Tin Angel this week to hear the musical stylings of singer/songwriter Lee DeWyze, former American Idol champ.
