Art After 5
Get a jazzy start on your weekend at the Philadelphia Museum of Art tonight. This week's Art After 5 programming features classic soul and R&B from the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, who will pay a jazz-infused tribute to the greats with tunes by Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, and other favorites. The Great Stair Hall will offer delicious snacks and cocktails, wine, and beer. All galleries in the main building will be open for perusing, with guided tours available throughout the night. Peddler's Village Grand Illumination
Santa is coming to town–tonight! He will assume his post in Peddler's Village this evening and kick off the holiday season with a special Grand Illumination Celebration. The magical outdoor light display will be switched on at 6:15 p.m. sharp, followed by free cider and marshmallow toasting. Shops will be open until 10 p.m. for those looking to check a few gifts off their lists, and kids will be able to chat and take photos with Santa, write him a letter, and decorate gingerbread cookies in Mrs. Claus' kitchen. We Were Promised Jetpacks
Scottish indie rock band We Were Promised Jetpacks will take the stage at Union Transfer this evening. Their third full-length album, Unravelling, debuted earlier this year, with new member Stuart McGachan increasing the band's already intense, ferocious sound. Terrain Holiday Open House
From Shoppist: On Saturday, stop by Terrain in Glen Mills from 1pm to 6pm. There will be a huge array of holiday-inspired goodness like freshly cut Christmas trees the team has hand-picked, toasty wood fires, a Christmas village with over 20 types of greens to decorate your home, and pie-tasting in the garden cafe. They'll have their usual selection of decorations, ornaments and crowd-pleasing gifts for everyone. Plus, 10 percent of the day's profits will be donated to The Garden Conservancy in Westport and the Natural Lands Trust. More here.


Cut Your Own Tree at Linvilla Orchards
Beginning this Saturday, you can bring the whole family to Linvilla Orchards to select your perfect Christmas tree. Hop on a hayride to the Christmas tree fields, pick your tree, and impress your gang by sawing it down yourself (saws provided)! The crew will do the rest of the work – like wrapping up your tree and tying it to your car – while you enjoy the festive farm and Christmasland display. "Opening Eyes" Photo Exhibit
You're invited to an afternoon of philanthropy, poetry, and art, this Sunday at The Bazemore Gallery. The afternoon will showcase the work of both local and international young artists, featuring the brand new "Opening Eyes" photo exhibit (on display through December 13th), a photographic journey by South African teens which depicts home and community. To complement the exhibit, there will also be a special poetry slam courtesy of local poets. Sunday, November 23rd, 12 p.m.-4 p.m., The Bazemore Gallery, 4339 Main Street, Manayunk, PA.


Oh, Everything! Stand-Up Comedy Tour
Here's something for your Sunday funday agenda: Underground Arts will play host to socio-political comedian and former host of the FX comedy series Totally Biased, W. Kamau Bell. Bell's "Oh, Everything!" tour also features comedian Zach Sherwin, so hilarity is sure to ensue. Tickets are available for purchase online.
