7 Shows To See in Philly This Week: Basement, Jimmy Buffet, Rod Stewart, Drake vs Lil Wayne, and More
Get our weekly picks of what to do this weekend and the latest on Philly's arts and entertainment scene.

Monday: Basement (with Superheaven, Pity Sex, Ovlov)
England-based punk-rock group Basement is headlining tonight’s show at Union Transfer. Their melodic hardcore sounds are influenced by early-90s grunge acts–like Nirvana. Swoon. Tickets are sold out on the venue's site, but you can still find some here. Monday, August 18th, 8:30 p.m., $17+, Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden Street.

Tuesday: Jimmy Buffett
For those who have a secret soft spot for the perpetually tanned, Margarita-sipping crooner: You can savor summer’s final days singing along with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band’s island-themed anthems at the Susquehanna Bank Center this Tuesday. Scoop up your tickets here. Tuesday, August 19th, 8 p.m., $49.50+, Susquehanna Bank Center, 1 Harbour Blvd., Camden, NJ.

Wednesday: Bear in Heaven (with Young Magic and Weeknight)
Brooklyn-based band Bear in Heaven are hitting Johnny Brenda’s Wednesday night with their catchy electronic indie vibes. Their new album, Time Is Over One Day Old, boasts tracks both approachable and danceable; somewhere between pop and experimental. They're a solid addition to your typical midweek soundtrack. Doors open at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 20th, 8 p.m., $12-14, Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave.

Thursday: Drake vs. Lil Wayne
If having firsthand involvement in a heated rap battle is on your bucket list, here’s your chance. The two hip-hop superstars will take the stage at Susquehanna Bank Center this Thursday, performing battling sets back and forth as audience members are invited to utilize a downloadable app which will count votes in favor of one rapper or the other. Not like Mr. Started-From-Degrassi-Now-I’m-Here and the Young Money exec needed an excuse to take the stage together—they are both platinum status—but this one should be interesting. Tickets are available here. Thursday, August 21st, 7 p.m., $35+, Susquehanna Bank Center, 1 Harbour Blvd., Camden, NJ.

Friday: The Smiths Social
Fans of the legendary English rock band will dig this: The Trocadero Theater is hosting The Smiths Social, a party celebrating the music of The Smiths–the next best thing to seeing them in the flesh. The 18th Pale Descendants will perform live Smiths' songs, and DJ T.C. Cole will spin 80s alternative. Tickets are available here. Friday, August 22nd, 8 p.m., $5, The Trocadero Theater, 1003 Arch Street.

Saturday: Rod Stewart
Seeing the legendary Rod Stewart live is definitely worth the drive to The Shore this weekend. Nearly 70, the guy still puts on a great show, covering hits you can’t help but know all the words, and shimmy your hot legs, to. He’ll be at the Trump Taj Mahal this Saturday night. Tickets are available here. Saturday, August 23rd, $95+, Mark G. Etess Arena at Trump Taj Mahal, 1000 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ.

Sunday: Who Got The Jazz: Best Of
End your week with a tribute to some of jazz’s greatest artists. World Cafe Live presents Who Got The Jazz: Best Of, with music by Nimrod Speaks (pictured), Luke O’Reily, and Khary Abdul-Shaheed & Friends, all tipping their hats to some of the best in the business. The smoothest tunes, inspired by the likes of Coltrane and Davis, will surely help ease those Sunday blues. Tickets can be purchased online. Sunday, August 24th, 7 p.m., $15+, World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut Street.
