Philadelphia Academies rED Fest at Saxbys

Guests attended a Valentine's Day-themed coffee and cocktail reception to raise funds and awareness for the academic nonprofit.

On Thursday, Lisa Nutter, president of Philadelphia Academies Inc. (PAI), hosted a coffee and cocktail reception dubbed “Academies rED Fest fundraiser” in honor of Valentine’s Day at Saxbys headquarters at 2300 Chestnut Street. The event was held to raise funds and awareness for the local academic nonprofit. Business leaders and civic-minded supporters enjoyed specialty drinks, coffee and delicious dishes from Whole Foods catering, while learning the latest on the programs supplemented through PAI. In attendance were career-academy ambassadors from Roxborough High School and Abraham Lincoln High School who engaged with the guests by sharing information on how the career academies model through PAI has shaped their high-school experience for the better. The model has teachers within a high school working together to plan industry-themed lessons, encouraging stronger real-world skill sets.
