HughE Dillon: Hair O’ the Dog Party

Center City's glamour quotient shot sky-high at the Westin on Saturday.

On Saturday night, one of Philadelphia’s swankiest, black-tie affairs, the 18th Annual Hair O’ the Dog, was held at the Westin Hotel in Center City. The event was created by Rob Molinaro and Dan Cronin (below, second from right), of Chorus Communications, and began as a post-holiday, thank-you party for clients of their business. After a successful first year, they decided to add a charity component and make it an annual event. Every year, it has grown in size and prominence. It’s really the first social event of the season and sends the glamour quotient up—way up into the stratosphere—with long gowns and short skirts, Jimmy Choos and BCBG Max Azria, eye candy all around, and delicious food and spirits. This year, Hair O’ the Dog benefited two charities: the Garden of Reflection, Pennsylvania’s official 9/11 memorial, and Friends Are by Your Side, a network of beauty pros dedicated to helping women with cancer. Also below: Rob Wright, of G Lounge, with friends.

Below: Glenn Stevens and Perry Milou take a break during the creation of their interactive charity masterwork early in the evening. The painting would be auctioned off at the end of the night.

Below: Makeup artist Robin Lynette with former Power 99 DJ personality Shamara, who is looking pleasing in purple.

Below: Love, love, love this orange dress that Stacey Kracher, marketing director at Zarwin Baum, is wearing. Aida Sparta is sporting a Little Black Dress, and nothing comes between her and her Christian Louboutin shoes. These two ladies look good in anything because they have rocking bodies that they work hard to get.

Below: Jana Challenger and Tracy McDonald, who are committee members of The Red Ball, reminded me that The 2012 Red Ball Gala will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Please Touch Museum.

Below: Chio, of Wired 96.5, was an emcee for the event with his sidekick Shila (not pictured). Here, he’s with Brittny Lynn Carr.

Below: Julie Dorenbos, co-owner of Skin Palette, Susie Johnsen, co-owner of Skin Palette, Carol Drumstas, market manager at Brown Forman Beverages, and Buffy Morgan, director of marketing at Chorus Communications. Buffy was the primary point person on the event planning for this year’s Hair O’ the Dog.

Below: Looking good! Bubba Leyendecker and Erica Leyendecker brought a little punk-rock chic to the party.

Below: T.J. Gersh, partner at 3 Nerds, and Nicole Gaugler. Another beautiful purple dress. Very elegant.

Below: Ron Zawadsky and Preston & Steve’s Marisa Magnatta, with Ron Donatucci, Jr. and Dana Donatucci. It was like a grade-school reunion as Marisa and Ron both went to Waldron Mercy Academy together.

Below: Red-dressed Alexandria Sabo and Carmina Bonfiglio were resting up before heading over to the after-parties at Whisper and G Lounge. Neither was sure they would be around for the last call at G Lounge’s 6 a.m. closing time.

Congratulations to local designer Creg Oosterhart and David Hall (director of catering at the Loews Hotel), on their incredible $5,000.00 winning bid for the interactive live painting masterwork by Philly artists Perry Milou and Glenn Stevens. The painting is on exhibit at Signacurl Hair Salon.
