HughE Dillon: Philly Goes Hollywood

Plus: Local gals get booted off Bachelor Pad, M. Night goes shopping, and which Center City lawyer attended Padma Lakshmi's surprise birthday party last night

On Thursday, there was a 20th Century Fox 75th Anniversary Plaque Dedication at the Julia R. Masterman School at 17th and Spring Garden, where parts of M. Night Shyamalan’s movie The Happening was filmed. And last month I attended a Metropolitan Philadelphia Entertainment Group (M.P.E.G.) networking event at Warmdaddy’s. It was a lot of fun to mingle with many of the faces I recognized from movies, TV shows and commercials that have been filmed in the tri-state area, including John Mitchell (pictured left), who will be in the upcoming Dark Fields with Bradley Cooper, and How Do You Know with Reese Witherspoon. See today’s slideshow for more Philly-goes-Hollywood pics.

OUT AND ABOUT
Kendra Wilkinson Watch: Saturday was Hank Baskett’s birthday. The couple had a romantic dinner alone at Davio’s then headed to bowl at Lucky Strike with personal assistant Edward Bochniak and Kendra’s BFF Brittany Binger. You might get a chance to see the former Playmate/actress Binger in Philly as she just arrived in town on Tuesday to continue her co-starring role in Kendra’s reality show.

Last month I mentioned that JadaReneeStyle.com was hosting a charity basketball game with NFL Wives to benefit the American Lung Association. Well, they just announced the time, place and players. On Saturday, October 2nd at Rutgers University at 3 p.m. (doors open at 2 p.m.), the Eagles Wives play the Redskins Wives. Look for Cherie Mikell, Julie Dorenbos, Loretta Runynan, Whitney Kolb and my girl Kendra Wilkinson to battle it out with Bethany Bidwell, Brittany Gano, Jada Hall, and Anabell Williams.

Last night at Indochine in NYC, Philadelphia attorney Justin Wineburgh, of Cozen O’Connor, attended a surprise 40th birthday party for Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. Also there: Katie Couric, Harvey Weinstein, Diane von Furstenberg, and Andy Cohen. Not spotted was recent Top Chef finalist Jennifer Carroll, who is spending the month of September in New York City at Le Bernardin, her staff told me.

On Saturday, M. Night Shyamalan was spotted at the KOP Nordstrom. He did not show up saturday night at the Colonial Theatre’s special showing of The Happening. Dennis Dreibelbis, owner of G Lodge Restaurant near Phoenixville, did come, along with several of his customers. The G Lodge Restaurant and Dreibelbis appear in a scene after the characters have escaped from Philadelphia. In his scene he talks with John Leguizamo as they carry out a TV so the worried people can see what’s on the news about all the deaths.

Two Philly-connected girls got the boot from ABC’s Bachelor Pad Monday night: Gwen Gioia and Ashley Elmore. Ashley is the sister of Erin Elmore, who was on Donald Trump’s Apprentice

After Saturday’s Red Bull Flugtag event, the censored Phlyin’ Phanatic head was carted to one of its sponsors, Gigi Restaurant + Lounge, in Old City for the after-party celebrating the day’s events.
