The Seasonal Deals, Dishes and More That Philly Foodies Are Hyped for Right Now

Fall has arrived, and as the weather turns, the harvest is hauled in and seasonal ingredients reach their prime. That means there’s always something exciting happening in Philly’s food scene–so much so that it can be hard to decide where to head. For a great start to your exploration, several top Philadelphia restaurants with incredible happy hour and seasonal menus are clustered together thanks to the always-interesting dining program at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, which makes for a destination where you can experience the cream of the crop. We took a look at the best deals, specials and happenings that are on offer for the season, so you can build an amazing culinary to-do list.

The Prime Rib

Checking out The Prime Rib in the fall is always a great move. A steakhouse that’s lauded for its chef’s vision is a rare gem, and The Prime Rib manages to serve up not just great steaks, but seafood specialties, creative appetizers and Instagrammable desserts, complemented by craft cocktails and a rich wine list and spirits selection. It’s an elegant dining experience provided in a chic yet upbeat setting with live music (including a pianist Thursdays through Saturdays), cherrywood tables, velvet dining chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows.

This fall, their happy hours are an event in themselves–every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., they’re pairing $2 oysters and $10 champagne flights in their Bubbles and Pearls special. On Thursdays until 7:30 p.m., they’re offering a “Lucky 8” menu, with $8 prime rib sliders, truffle fries and more. The Prime Rib is also a late-night must-stop–on Fridays and Saturdays until midnight, they’re serving favorites like the Prime Burger and shrimp cocktail in the Bar & Lounge.

If you want to elevate your experience, try one of their Wine and Whiskey dinners, happening on October 20th with the Prisoner Wine Company and on November 17th with Bulleit Whiskey. Take a seat in the private dining room for a six-course menu with expert-guided wine and whiskey pairings.

Sports & Social

Fall is everyone’s favorite season for sports, so it makes sense that there’s a lot going on at one of Philadelphia’s top sports bar-and-restaurants, Sports & Social, which is also an entertainment center with a FanDuel Sportsbook & Lounge, a 52-foot LED screen, and 24 televisions. Critically, the food punches above its weight, with favorites made in-house, a great beer selection and bartenders with a broad knowledge of cocktails.

This season, it’s a game-day party every time the Eagles play, with half-time contests, signed memorabilia giveaways (think rally towels and foam fingers), $5 Bud Lights and more. Even when it’s an away game, the first 50 guests get a free beer and can compete in a half-time wing-eating contest to win tickets for the next home game, so expect a lively regular crowd. Even more exciting, you might spot former Eagles players among the attendees (follow@sportssocialphilly to see when they’re scheduled to appear).

There’s also a lot of reasons to attend outside of game day, thanks to theme nights that highlight the food and beverages on offer. Monday Mug Night will make Monday night football more interesting, regardless of who’s playing, thanks to $7 mugs of beer and $6 cocktails. The night’s dishes will make you feel as if you’re at the game, thanks to food specials that are based around the regional cuisines of the competing teams. Head back to the restaurant the next day for all-day Taco Tuesday specials, including $3 chicken and pork tacos, $4 tempura mahi tacos, and deals on Spanish-inspired drink-classics like stepped-up margaritas and Estrella lager. Finally, the NBA season gets some love as well on October 18th, with Hennessy cocktails, giveaways, samplings, trivia, game day bites and more.

Luk Fu

Luk Fu creates the kind of vibe that you want this fall season, all neon lights and cozy rooms that you can escape into from the cold. They’ve also got a contemporary menu that any foodie will enjoy, with creative innovations like sashimi martinis with sweet and spicy ponzu sauce. The sake-driven spirits list and ambitious cocktail program complement the chic-but-playful vibes.

You can indulge deeply in those flavors on Wednesdays, thanks to a 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. happy hour with $5 sushi rolls and both sweet and savory sake flights. The best way to enjoy your deal? Try out Luk Fu’s karaoke rooms, where you can watch your friends put themselves out there as you dine on sushi boats delivered directly to you. If you find yourself inspired enough to take up a new hobby, you can even join their Karaoke Club, which gives you a free hour on your next visit and other bonuses through their loyalty program.
