Summer is finally here! That means, barbecues, baseball games, beach trips and best of all—refreshing and cool cocktails.

And Philly’s no novice to the craft cocktail game. With beer gardens, festivals, outdoor eating options and more popping up all over the city streets, it can be hard to decide on your next drinking destination. Which is why we sent lifestyle blogger and tequila lover, Katerina Seigel out to scout two solid tequila summer cocktails—ideal for a boozy brunch, happy hour or a night cap.

Believe it or not, tequila is the ultimate summer spirit. It’s perfect for pairing with everything from Mexican food to dozens of your favorite summer dishes, like pan seared scallops and grilled steak tips.

So, what are you waiting for?! Grab your friends and set up your very own summer cocktail crawl. Here are two of Seigel’s favorite local libations to try out first:

The Sun Also Rises

Named after the famed Ernest Hemingway novel, this P.J. Clarke’s cocktail takes notes from the novel’s plot line—it’s the perfect blend of bittersweet. “This cocktail has a definite bite but is still super fruity and sweet,” says Seigel. Made with Cazadores tequila, yellow chartreuse and equal parts Aperol and lime, it’s the sweet and slightly sour summer cocktail you’ve been searching for. “I love the touch of tanginess the grapefruit gives this cocktail,” says Seigel. “It’s something you can drink at 4PM with a friend, with some light bites to beat the heat.”

Blackberry Cabernet Margarita

Cabernet and Margarita—those are two words you never probably pictured together but trust us—it works. Aqimero’s Blackberry Cabernet Margarita is made with Cazadores tequila and blackberry-cabernet simple syrup, served over ice. “Margaritas are a true favorite of mine,” says Seigel. “This one did not disappoint.” Her highlights? “Some margaritas can be overbearing but this fruity blend was really subtle and perfect for summer.” She also loved the Instagram-worthy black sea salt rim. “Anything with a little touch of personality and interest is so fun!” she says. “It’s a super chic addition to your summer sips.”

Now it’s your turn to try out Seigel’s favorite sips! For the month of June, P.J. Clarke’s and Aqimero will be serving the signature cocktails above. Just ask for Philly Mag’s summer cocktail crawl special.
