Hungry? Here’s the Beach Town That Delivers Delicious Food and Awesome Adventures

The biggest question when planning a weekend away is an all-too-familiar one: Where are we eating?
Philadelphians are a hungry bunch, right? We demand the same caliber of excellence when we need to leave town. Thankfully, Ocean City, Maryland understands us. Beyond the traditional boardwalk bites (read: Thrasher’s Fries, always), there are dozens of options that make food a seamless part of your itinerary.
To help jumpstart your ideas, we compiled the ultimate four-day weekend in Ocean City.
Thursday: Welcome to OCMD
There’s something about walking under the boardwalk arch that signals you have officially arrived. Soak in the sun and keep things simple.
Start with breakfast at Sunrise Diner, where over-the-top classics like bumble toast set the tone for a weekend that does not hold back.
Once you drop your bags at the hotel, it’s time to dip your toes in the sand. Let a few hours pass, watching the waves, bopping a beach ball around, or building sandcastles before shifting gears into late lunch.
And you don’t need to go far. Flamingo Coast sits right on the beach. Try a trendy dirty soda and share a plate of beach nachos. From there, lean into the boardwalk energy. Pop into arcades, stroll between shops, or hop on a rollercoaster at Trimper Rides.
As the sun starts to dip, pivot bayside. Head to Harpoon Hanna’s for crab cake eggrolls and waterfront views that feel just removed from the crowds.
Cap the evening with a sunset paddleboard or kayak session on the bay. It is an easy, low-key way to unwind while taking in the water at its calmest.
Friday: Amp it up
Ease into day two with brunch at Marlin Moon. Go savory with a Chesapeake Benedict and a shareable mimosa flight or indulge in strawberries-and-cream French toast with a cup of coffee to get you going.
Spend a few hours on the sand, then shift into adventure mode with a jet ski session or high-speed tour searching for dolphins aboard the iconic Sea Rocket.
Afterward, head to Lighthouse Sound for lunch and cocktails by the water. Set on the bay, it offers a quieter backdrop and a glimpse of one of Ocean City’s standout golf courses, a reminder that a full day on the links is well worth working into the mix.
Even if you can’t spend a full day on the green, take the afternoon for a round or two of mini golf along Coastal Highway. Reserve a spot in the evening for a sunset parasail or a helicopter tour for an epic aerial view of the coastline before dinner.
Head to Fager’s Island for dinner. Chef Jim’s menu (Thursday—Sunday) offers nightly specials with the freshest seasonal ingredients.
Finish the night with a walk on the beach, a stop at Dumser’s Dairyland for a cone, and a minute to take it all in.
Saturday: Made for thrill seekers
Start strong with fried green benedict and coffee at Barn 34, then head straight into the action at Jolly Roger Splash Mountain. Spend the late morning and early afternoon moving between slides, wave pools, and just enough downtime to keep the energy up.
When you are ready to refuel, make your way to Higgins Crab House and settle in for a hands-on crab feast. Pick your own or sample Maryland staples like soft shells, crab cakes, and fried clams.
By early evening, pick the pace back up at SpeedWorld. Race around a few tracks, lean into the competition, and let it feel a little chaotic.
Finish with dinner at BLU Crabhouse right on the water to bring the energy back down while still staying in the moment.
End your night on the boardwalk with a stop at Kohr Bros for frozen custard before heading back to your hotel.
Sunday: Choose your own adventure
Celebrate your last day with crepes at Bayside Skillet and hang on to the vacation vibes just a little longer. Go for something sweet, order a second coffee, and enjoy one last easy morning.
From there, split the day based on your pace.
Book a tee time and spend the morning on one of Ocean City’s award-winning courses. With more than a dozen options nearby, you can take in bayside views at Lighthouse Sound or stay oceanside at Eagle’s Landing.
Head to Assateague Island and swap beach time for something off the beaten path. Rent bikes and take the four-mile route through Bayberry Drive and Oceanside Campground Road. The path winds through salt marshes, pine forests, and sand dunes, with plenty of chances to spot wild ponies, deer, and coastal birds along the way. Finish at Five Tides for grouper bites and fries, before heading home.
In Ocean City, your next meal is never just a meal. It is part of the plan. Build your days around what you crave, and you will find the rest of the weekend falls into place on its own.
Four days pack in all the must-see (and eat) spots, but there are always more to explore.
