10 Cocktails To Help Spice Up Your Holiday Celebrations

The holidays are a time for reflection. To celebrate the end of 2021, kick back, relax and fix yourself a cocktail. Whether you’re a fan of whiskey based-drinks or prefer to sip a drink with a coffee kick, these recipes will have you feeling merry in no time.

Basil Hayden® Golden Hour 

From BEAM SUNTORY

1 part Basil Hayden® Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

3/4 part Lillet Blanc

3/4 part Aperol Aperitif

1 grapefruit peel, for garnish

Combine ingredients over ice in a mixing glass and stir until well chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a grapefruit peel.

Finnegan’s Wake

2 oz. cold brew coffee

1 oz. Luxardo Amaro Abano

2 oz. Writers’ Tears Copper Pot Whiskey

Lemon twist, for garnish

Pour coffee over ice into an old-fashioned glass, then add Luxardo Amaro Abano. Next add Writers’ Tears Copper Pot into glass, express the lemon peel over the top of the cocktail and add into drink.

Jim Beam Bourbon Orange Sour

1 oz. Jim Beam Orange

4 oz. premium soda water

1 orange slice, for garnish

Combine ingredients in a highball glass with ice. Garnish with orange slice.

Knob Rye Old Fashioned

From BEAM SUNTORY 

1 pinch brown sugar

3 dashes bitters

1 splash water

1 grapefruit peel

1.5 oz. Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

Muddle sugars, bitters, water and grapefruit peel in a rocks glass. Add whiskey and ice. Stir and enjoy.

Maker’s Mark Gold Rush

From MAKER’S MARK

14 ½ oz. Maker’s Mark

5 ½ oz. Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

5 ½ oz. Honey Syrup

1 lemon slice, for garnish

Combine all ingredients in mixing vessel. Transfer to a bottle, seal and refrigerate for up to 72 hours. 

To serve, shake bottle gently. Add 3 to 4 oz. to a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain over ice. Garnish with lemon.

Slane® Irish Coffee

From BROWN-FORMAN

Freshly brewed double espresso

1 oz. Slane® Irish Whiskey

2/3 oz. vanilla-infused demerara syrup

Float double cream

Freshly brewed double espresso

Dark chocolate orange shavings, for garnish

Prepare espresso. Add boiling water halfway up a separate glass. Add whiskey,  syrup and espresso, then stir. Top with float of cream. Garnish with chocolate orange shavings.

The Deep Eddy Chilton

Salt, for rim

1.5 oz. Deep Eddy Original Vodka

Juice of 2 lemons

Soda Water, to taste

Rim a cocktail glass with salt and fill with ice. Add vodka and lemon juice and top with soda water. Stir gently and enjoy!

The Elijah Craig Old Fashioned

From HEAVEN HILL DISTILLERY 

2 oz. Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon

1/4 oz. simple syrup

3 dashes bitters

1 cherry, for garnish

1 orange swath

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Stir until well chilled. Strain cocktail over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a cherry and orange.

Winter Apple Toddy

1/2 oz X by Glenmorangie

3/4 oz pressed apple juice

1/4 oz lemon juice

1 dessert spoon honey, or to taste

Clove-studded orange wheel, cinnamon stick and star anise, for garnish.

Combine ingredients, except whisky, into a saucepan and bring to a simmer on a low heat. Do not allow to boil. Pour whisky into glass mug and top with hot ingredients. Garnish with clove-studded orange wheel, cinnamon stick and star anise.

Woodford Reserve® Manhattan

1.5 oz Woodford Reserve® Bourbon

1 oz. sweet vermouth

2 dashes Woodford Reserve® Bitters

1 orange twist, for garnish

1 Woodford Reserve® Cherry, for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with ice. Shake or stir according to your own preference. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with orange twist and cherry.
