The Super Bowl of Sales: Joan Shepp’s Blowout Basement Sale Starts Tomorrow

My ultimate shopping secret is this: Every January, Joan Shepp holds a sale. But it’s not your average end-of-season sale, where things like droopy scarves and deflated puffer jackets are half-off. This is the Super Bowl of sales, one that sees discount racks lined with Balenciaga and Dries van Noten. It is, in a word, heaven.

Here’s what to expect: All fall merchandise is marked up to 75 percent off (it’s often organized by discount level), and the good stuff goes quickly. So make a point to take an early lunch tomorrow to nab terrific picks from the likes of Ann Demeulemeester, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Maison Margiela. The sale kicks off on Wednesday, January 13th, at 10am, and lasts through Sunday, January 17th, though items that don’t sell are usually still available afterwards. So … I’ll see you there?

The Details: Joan Shepp, 1811 Chestnut Street, Rittenhouse, 215-735-2666. Hours: Wednesday, 10am-8pm; Thursday-Saturday, 10am-6pm; Sunday, 12-5pm.
