Shopping Heaven: Egan Day Is Having a Flea Market This Weekend

Consider this a must-shop event.

Egan Day is easily one of my favorite shops in the entire city. First, just look at it. Everything in it is gorgeous, from the fine jewelry (much of it tucked under simple glass cloches) to the furniture (the long display table is a custom piece by Philly-based BDDW) to the assorted objets d’art that are sprinkled about. It’s all very elegant, with a distinct sense of curation, something you don’t normally associate with most flea markets, which can have a sort of jam-packed-treasure-hunt feel to them.

Until now. This weekend Egan Day is hosting a two-day flea, during which the basement of the shop (finally, you can see where that narrow circular staircase leads!) and the sidewalk will be chock-full of discounted items, mostly home accessories and gently used display pieces. (In short, it’s the most glam flea ever.)

You’ll find Nymphemburg porcelain, Maureen Fullan glass paperweights, and a hefty dose of mid-century modern furniture from the likes of Design Within Reach, Hans Wegner and Herman Miller. Also on hand: face-painting (to keep the kids occupied) and Little Baby’s Ice Cream.

The Details: Saturday, June 13th, 10am to 6pm, and Sunday, June 14th, 10am to 1pm. Egan Day, 260 South 16th Street, Rittenhouse,
