On the Market (Again): Refreshed Creekside Barn House in Flourtown
This one was a Jawdropper when we last featured it here a year and a half ago. It still is now.
You may have heard, perhaps from your agent or an interior designer friend of yours (or your agent’s), that staging your house for sale will help it sell faster.
That’s because most buyers have a hard time filling interiors with their own imaginations. Which means that how you — or your designer or stager — fill their imaginations matters.
What you’re about to see is an unplanned experiment on what kind of staging works best.
If that converted barn in the photo above looks familiar, that’s because it is. We featured it as a Jawdropper of the Week when it was last on the market in the summer of 2017.
Not long after we featured it, its owner took it off the market and rented it to tenants. Those tenants had ideas of their own when it came to outfitting the space, and now that the owner has decided to offer this house for sale again, the agent marketing it decided to take new promotional photos showing the house as the tenants decorated it.
We agree with the agent that the tenants did a fantastic job with their home makeover. They replaced the more rustic, earth-tone heavy decor with a modernist approach with bolder colors. They also replaced the soft pastels in the bedrooms and eat-in kitchen with bright white.
Which makes this the same house we featured two summers ago, only different. We’ll let the pictures do the talking from here so you can see just how different this place is. Fortunately, however, the best things remain the same, including its resort-like backyard, its location right on Wissahickon Creek, and its living-room deck overlooking the creek.
