13 Awesome Philly Beer Gardens, Breweries, and Distilleries That Will Host Your Wedding

These spots bring new meaning to the phrase "wedding bar."

We’re living in modern times, folks. People are getting married in all different manners and places (ahem, happy hour at Dirty Franks), and they’re also putting a more personal flair on their I-Dos (See: riding to the aisle on a unicorn). One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is that people love a good bar at a wedding. So why not make the *entire* wedding about the bar? Getting married in a beer garden, brewery, or distillery is one of our favorite ideas right now, and, lucky for you, plenty in Philly and the surrounding suburbs are ready and willing to host your wedding.

Independence Beer Garden

100 South Independence Mall West, Old City

Independence Beer Garden is the Schulson Collective’s take on an outdoorsy reception. With various locations on the property ranging in seating size from 20 to 150 guests, couples have their choice of the perfect space for their reception. This fun, outdoor location has a casual, city atmosphere, and with games offered by the restaurant, your guests are sure to have a memorable time. Pricing varies.

Evil Genius Beer Company

1727 North Front Street, Fishtown

The name is pretty self-explanatory. Evil Genius offers a variety of beers including IPAs, porters, and shandys. Their food isn’t half bad either—they’re known for their quick bites.  Evil Genius is perfect for a smaller reception, with enough room for 80 guests. Pricing is usually about $32 a person. 

Frankford Hall

1210 Frankford Avenue, Fishtown

Frankford Hall is great if you’re having a larger reception. This German beer garden set in an industrial space in the heart of Fishtown can fit up to 400 people seated for a reception. Frankford Hall features indoor and outdoor seating. Bonus: they have ping pong and shuffle board. All food and beverage packages are tailored to the bride and groom. Frankford Hall also works with various DJ’s and local bands throughout the year, so music can also be taken care of, according to Josh Mann, general manager. The pastry chefs will also work with the couple to make the cake of their dreams, if the couple so chooses. Pricing varies.

Fette Sau

Fette Sau, just down the street from Frankford Hall, is a better choice for a mid-sized wedding. This Fishtown spot has enough room for 120 guests seated and like Frankford Hall, food and beverage packages are specific to the bride and groom’s desires. They also can provide the same offerings music and cake wise. If you’re looking for something local in the way of your cake, you can have it made through Cake Life, their pastry neighbor next door. Pricing varies.

New Liberty Distillery

New Liberty Distillery is a multi-floor facility in a turn of the 19th century restored carriage house. With room for up to 150 inside and over 300 in the outside courtyard, it’s the perfect venue for a mid-sized to large wedding. New Liberty features a barrel aging room, a tasting room with a full bar and a gift and bottle shop. Pricing varies.

Dock Street Brewing Co.

Dock Street Brewing is great because they love options. From food to beer to the venue, the happy couple who chooses Dock Street will be sure to have their perfect modern reception. This brewpub is in what used to be a firehouse and they’re known for their wood-fired pies and large selection of beers and brews. Dock Street Brewpub can seat up to 85 people, but if you’re looking for a smaller reception Dock Street Cannery and Tasting Lounge is right down the street and can seat up to 55 guests. Pricing hovers around $65 per person for open bar and food.

Second District Brewing Company

Second District is perfect for a small to mid-size wedding of about 100 people. Couples can also choose to host a smaller reception in the back, which can seat around 50. Your guests will be able to relax in this laid-back brewery while sipping on house beers and cocktails if they so choose. To top it off, they serve vegan friendly food as well. Pricing usually starts around $50 per person.

Yards Brewing Company

500 Spring Garden Street, Northern Liberties

Want a reception space with a little more room to move around? Look no further than Yards Brewing. Yards is home to a wide-ranging brewery, restaurant, and bar. The location also features an outdoor seating area and retail shop. Yards can host a 120 person seated reception, and 200 person standing reception.Your guests will munch on classic bar treats like nachos and wings and can even enjoy a mini root beer float station. Pricing ranges from $80 to $110 per person. 

Memphis Taproom

2331 East Cumberland Street, Kensington

Memphis Taproom is a great reception space for beer fanatic couples. Their menu includes ales, porters, ciders, and more. They even have wine if that’s more your speed. The beer garden can seat up to 75 people, or 100 for a standing reception, and has vegan catering options. Pricing starts around $50 per person. 

Philadelphia Distilling

25 East Allen Street, Northern Liberties

Established in 2005, Philadelphia Distilling is the first craft distillery to be opened in Pennsylvania since before Prohibition. It’s historic, it’s big, and it may just be perfect for your wedding. Philadelphia Distilling’s sophisticated, upscale decor and ceiling length windows are sure to impress your guests and keep you and your partner happy. Their main cocktail bar and lounge can accomodate up to 150 people for a cocktail style reception and 75 people for a sit down menu with enough space for a dance floor and entertainment. Bonus: all outside vendors are welcome and custom cocktails are available. Pricing varies.

Federal Distilling

Federal Distilling may just be the perfect pick for a mid-size reception with a little flair. This modern distillery doesn’t slack on the style and color. The Federal Distilling Room fits about 125 people, speciality cocktails are available, and, if you’re looking for a special wedding gift, Federal Distilling can also make engraved bottles for the wedding party or as a giveaway for guests. Pricing ranges from $60 to $120 per guest.

Wissahickon Brewing Company

3705 West School House Lane, East Falls

This family-owned and operated brewery is unique because it lets guests “party with the tanks”: they host events, such as weddings, in the very space where they brew their beer. Wissahickon Brewing has enough space for 100 people, but if the reception is standing-cocktail style, there is room for up to 200. Couples who book their weddings here receive full access to a large projector screen, the ability to pipe in music, and various lawn games such as Jenga, ping pong, and corn hole. Pricing starts at $800 for up to five hours.

Manayunk Brewing Company

Manayunk Brewing Company is the perfect choice for every wedding from traditional to experimental. Weddings are hosted at The River Club – the rehabbed loft space of the former Woolen Mill. The space acts as a unique backdrop for your 200 seated guests. There is also space for 350 for a cocktail reception where guests will dine on everything from sushi to pizza. Pricing usually starts at $95 per person.
