You May Tell Your Guests Your Wedding Is Black Tie; You May Not Choose Their Outfits

I don’t know how many of you click in weekly to “Thatz Not Okay,” the weekly “advice” column on Gawker, but last night’s entry (it’s the second of two questions) made me laugh out loud—and I’m not even talking about the hilariously written answer.

What I actually died over was the question itself. Apparently, there exists a couple who not only let their guests know that their wedding was black tie on their invitation (which is, of course, totally fine, and even helpful when it comes to their guests figuring out how to dress)—they actually forbade the wearing of cotton and threw in some preferred fabrics for the ensembles their guests would wear on their Big Day.

And so, I am sharing, first and foremost to give you a good laugh on this Friday morning—but also, as a way of making sure that everyone knows that, as the author mentions, being crazy about your dress code in this manner is seriously not okay.
