Sixers Suspend Jahlil Okafor For 2 Games
The Philadelphia 76ers have suspended rookie center Jahlil Okafor for two games, the team announced.
The suspension will be effective immediately and will include tonight’s game against the New York Knicks and Saturday’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
The Sixers issued the following press release about the situation.
“We have made the determination to suspend Jahlil Okafor for two games, effective immediately
Jahlil is a very important part of our organization and our future. While we are disappointed with his recent actions, we have faith in him as a valued member of the Sixers. We will provide the necessary resources to support him on his journey and will do our part to help him succeed both on and off the court.”— Philadelphia 76ers press release, December 2nd, 2015
In addition to the fights captured on video in Boston, Okafor was also involved in an altercation in Philadelphia in the morning of October 4th where Okafor allegedly attempted to punch a heckler through an open car window, and ultimately had a gun pulled on him. In addition, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Okafor was pulled over for going 108 miles per hour over the Ben Franklin Bridge.
Okafor responded to the incidents earlier this week on twitter.
