Philly Black Pride Looking for 2015 LGBTQ Youth Scholarship Recipient

Heads up, local students. Philadelphia Black Pride is on the lookout for the 2015 recipient of their LGBTQ Youth Scholarship. This is the fourth year they’ll be handing out the award, which is $1,000 to a local student of color who identifies as LGBTQ or same gender-loving.

The deadline is quickly approaching, on April 5, 2015. To qualify, you must be …

  • 17-21 years of age
  • Accepted or currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited college/university or trade school (proof must be provided at the interview)
  •  LGBTQ or identified as same gender-loving
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or better (though applicants with a GPA lower than 3.0 are still encouraged to apply)
  • Have at least 1 year of community service history  
  • Be a person of color
  • Be a resident of Philadelphia or local counties
