WEEKEND ROUNDUP: The Stairwell Symphony, Sexercise and Songbirds

Looking for a spiritual awakening of sorts? Let Teena Geist be your guide. She may not be able to bring you to Jesus, but she’ll scare the hell out of you trying.

For the next two weekend’s Geist, the bizarre drag persona of No Face Performance Group founder Mark McCloughan, is hosting “The Stairwell Symphony,” an intimate experience that he explains as, “a living-room ritual for self-knowledge and expansion.” For clarification, he adds that, “Attendees will receive instruction in various techniques for breaking down the false barriers between different planes of consciousness.” Here’s an example of one of Geist’s “guided meditations.”

Creeped out yet? Well, it’s only just begun:

Today on Philly Mag‘s news site, reporter Victor Fiorillo explains that Geist will wear a creepy Eyes Wide Shut-like mask and “speak and sing through a vocal-effects processor that pretty much makes him sound like what you’d imagine a serial killer who locks you in a room and speaks to you through an intercom would sound like as he sits in a nearby room sharpening his blades.”

Uhhh …

To lighten the mood, Medicine Womyn Mixology School will be there whipping up unique cocktail concoctions, like the “J A D E R E M E M B R A N C E,” a curious mixture of champagne and chlorophyll. The show starts at 8 p.m., in an undisclosed location that will be revealed when you purchase your ticket. (For you planners, we’re told that it will most likely be held somewhere in the 19123 zip code). Seating is extremely limited so you have to act fast if you want some Geist in your life!
