Temple Eliminating Seven Sports
Including baseball and track.
This, straight from Temple’s Board of Trustrees.
The following sports will be cut: baseball, softball, men’s crew, women’s rowing, men’s gymnastics and men’s indoor/outdoor track & field. Approximately 150 student-athletes will be affected and nine full-time coaches will lose their jobs.
The decision was made for financial reasons, as you might expect. I’m not sure what to make of this next tidbit, but it’s worth noting that the guy who pulled the trigger on this was Athletics committee chairman and trustee Lewis Katz. Aka the guy embroiled in this mess. [Temple News]
