No Toll or Fare Increases on Philly Bridges Next Year

Franklin, Whitman would be proud.

If you commute on the Ben Franklin, the Walt Whitman, the Betsy Ross, or–my personal favorite–the Commodore Perry, you will not have to pay a penny more next year in tolls or fares.

The Delaware River Port Authority’s budget will be about 8 percent higher next year, but there will be no toll increase on DRPA bridges and no fare increase on the PATCO commuter rail line, DRPA officials said Wednesday.

A feat of economic engineering that would make Benjamin Franklin proud. [Inquirer]
