PA Inmate Denies Smuggling Contraband In Prosthetic Leg

Yes, Christopher Greer admits that he managed to obtain an illegal cell phone to make calls from the Fayette County Jail, south of Pittsburgh. But no, he says, he didn’t smuggle it in in the most obvious fashion possible—through a secret compartment in his prosthetic leg. The truth is much more mundane than that: He says the phone was in his cargo shorts when he reported to serve a sentence for driving with a suspended license. Authorities originally accused him of hiding the phone in the leg; now they say they’re not sure how he got the phone in, but that Greer would’be been searched too thoroughly to sneak in the device. The leg, meanwhile, refused to testify. [AP]
