Junior Seau’s Family Suing NFL Over Suicide

The family of Junior Seau, the former star linebacker who killed himself in May, has sued the National Football League over Seau’s death. They claim the NFL deliberately ignored the sort of brain trauma Seau was diagnosed with posthumously (chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE), and encouraged the culture of reckless violence that led to such injuries. Which, they claim, in turn led to his suicide. The family has also sued helmet maker Riddell. According to the AP, more than 3,800 players have now sued the NFL over brain injuries. [AP]
