Here Are Places to Eat in Philly Without Feeling Guilty About How the Waitstaff is Treated


The 2013 National Diners’ Guide to Ethical Eating has been released—it’s a compendium of places to eat and drink that offer benefits that can include “paid sick leave, allowing room for advancement, paying at least $9 an hour to non-tipped employees and at least $5 an hour to tipped workers.” In Philadelphia, the list of such establishments is apparently short, but includes London GrillLil’ Pop Shop, Fergie’s, The Belgian CaféNodding Head, Grace Tavern, Monks, Tequilas, and Bliss. Of those, only London Grill and Lil’ Pop Shop met all of the standards involved. And a few restaurants—mostly chains—did quite badly. [Keystone Politics]
