Incorrect Data Hurt Haverford College’s Forbes Ranking

Haverford College dropped from No. 7 to No. 27 in the annual rankings of American universities published by Forbes. The executive editor of the magazine says that Forbes relied on a federal database of statistical information pertaining to universities and that the database incorrectly listed Haverford’s graduation rate as 55 percent. Haverford College correctly reported its graduation rate as 88 percent. The list is already in print and published online, so the rankings won’t be recalculated. But, Forbes will post a message to the school’s profile on the site indicating the error. [Inquirer]
