The South Philly Flood Fiasco of 2012 Could Take a Month to Repair

The water main break that caused a flood and a gas leak and a sinkhole in South Philly Sunday night will continue to be a pain in everyone’s ass for another month. At least 70 homes sustained damage after a water main at 21st and Bainbridge broke late Sunday night. Crews had the leak under control by around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, but that didn’t solve the problem, as a gas leak and a sinkhole basically turned the intersection into a scene from a crappy John Cusack movie. A city official says that the repairs could take a few weeks, or even a month. [Inquirer]
