Students Camp Out to Guard the Joe Paterno Statue

Three Penn State students have pitched a tent outside Beaver Stadium amid threats to tear down Joe Paterno’s statue. On Tuesday, and again before afternoon thunderstorms, a plane circled over State College flying a banner that reads, “Take the statue down or we will.” The students—to of whom have been named by the Daily Collegian—have already been in contact with University Police who apparently said that the trio can’t sleep there, but can hang out and should call if anyone tries to start trouble. The students also say that they don’t believe that the Freeh Report proves Joe Paterno’s role in any potential cover up. [Onward State]
