Jersey Senate Committee Votes for Heavier Fines for Texting While Driving
A New Jersey state Senate committee has voted to pass a bill that calls for harsher punishments for texting while driving. Currently, drivers caught sending text messages are fined $100. The fine for a first offense would double to $200 and second and third offenses would carry an additional $200. The bill now heads to the future budget committee hearing and then to the full state Senate for a vote. [CBS 3]
