35-Year-Old Philadelphia Man Found Himself on a Website for Missing Children

Steve Carter—a 35-year-old software salesman in Philadelphia—was adopted as a toddler from an orphanage in Hawaii. As he started to think about starting his own family, he wanted to know more about his roots. On a whim, he checked Missingkids.com after seeing a story on CNN about a woman who was kidnapped by a nurse when she was a newborn. Turns out, Carter’s mother went out for a walk one day and dropped him off at the orphanage in Honolulu without telling his father. Carter’s biological father filed a missing person’s report and has now spoken to his son three decades later. They have not met in person yet. [CNN]
