Madonna Wows at Super Bowl
She had us at the gladiators. And that digital stage!
Madonna’s performance last night at the Super Bowl (go, Giants) was reminiscent of her old-school days at the MTV Video Music Awards. Only rather than dragging out the ball gowns, she rode in on a kind of glitzy chariot that had a certain Cher vibe to it. And it gave us chills.
The beefy gladiators and high-energy dancers were also a nice touch – especially since the Queen of Pop was admittedly a little on the stiff side (did we see her almost fall off ofthe bleachers?). But that doesn’t mean she didn’t show the younger performers, like the guys from LMFAO and Nicky Minaj and M.I.A. who shared the stage with her, who’s boss. We just wish she would have done more singing on her classics like “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer” – and leave the lipsyncing to Britney.
