Pennsbury Only Able to Pay $500K of $14M Suit to Victim

Last week, a civil court jury found that Ashley Zauflik—the young girl, now 21-years-old, that lost her leg in the bus accident at Pennsbury High School in 2007—should be awarded $14 million. The school district released a statement today indicating that it is only able to compensate Zauflik to the tune of $500,000 because of Pennsylvania’s Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act. Zauflik’s attorney thinks there is an umbrella clause that would allow the school district to pay up to an additional $10 million. [Philly Burbs]
