Out Attorney Receives Award
Philadelphia attorney Tiffany Palmer has been named one of the nation’s “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40” by the National LGBT Bar Association. Palmer has been a shareholder in the Philadelphia firm Jerner & Palmer, P.C., on Wissahickon Avenue for the past eight years – focusing her practice on LGBT family law, adoption and assisted reproductive technology.
Prior to that, the Rutger’s grad was the legal director for Equality Advocates Pennsylvania. She’s also a member of the National Center for Lesbian Rights Family Law Advisory Council and the board of Philadelphia Family Pride.
“I am very honored to have been selected,” says Palmer, who’s appeared on NPR, Court TV and WYBE’s Philly Live: Your Gay and Lesbian Connection. “It means a lot to me that my work on behalf of LGBT individuals and families in Pennsylvania has been recognized.”
The LGBT Bar first created this award to recognize lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves with a “profound commitment to LGBT equality.” Palmer will receive the award at the 2011 Lavender Law Conference (September 8 – 10) in Hollywood.
“I started my career in public interest law with a focus on LGBT family rights,” she says, “and have continued that focus through my work. I love the evolving nature of LGBT family law and being a part of making real change for families. I am very fortunate to have a career doing meaningful work on behalf of my community.”
