Gay-Friendly Holiday Gift Ideas

Looking for great holiday gifts for the gays in your life? Here are my tips. By Matthew Izzo

It’s that wonderful time of year to give something special to the ones you love. On these cold winter days – yes, it finally feels like winter out there – it’s also important to take care of your skin.

Stop by one of my favorite gay-owned shops Duross & Langel for great holiday gift ideas (and an excuse to pick up a little something for yourself). Try the exclusive holiday gift baskets for men and women featuring luxurious bath and body products. It’s a perfect way to keep your significant other looking (and smelling) fine.

Next up: Philadelphia Cupcake Company. My tummy is in love with this fancy little dessert boutique at 12th and Chestnut streets. Whether you select a sexy red velvet, creamy chocolate or rich buttercream, just about any combination of cupcakes is a great party treat. If someone surprised me with a box of cupcakes under my tree, I’d certainly sing with glee. You can never go wrong with sugary, buttery (and sometimes even sparkly) delights made right here in Philly.

Haven’t even begun to take a crack at your holiday gift list? Make a day of it on Third Street in Old City. Shopping in town is way more fun – and gay-friendly – than being stuck in a crowded mall. And you never know who you’ll meet or what great buys you’ll find at LGBT-friendly independent shops.

Get some fresh air and explore the myriad of stores offering one-of-a-kind art, as well as trendy fashions, homewares and gifts for everyone on your list this year.

Third Street Habit is a top women’s clothing shop in the neighborhood for everything from awesome ankle boots to shiny spangles and knit tops. Girls, you will love this place. The owner January Bartle knows how to treat her customers to a relaxed and super chic time. And the selection of skinny and bootcut denims from the likes of Adriano Goldschmied, AG and JBrand beat out the Gap every time.
