Big Brother Coming to the Gayborhood?

Police may install video cameras in the district. Tell us know what you think.

With complaints escalating about theft, prostitution and drug dealing in Philadelphia’s Gayborhood, the city’s Sixth District Police are discussing a proposal that would install video cameras throughout the neighborhood centered on 13th and Locust Streets. Philadelphia Gay News reported this week that talks are already underway between the department, members of the Police Liaison Committee, as well as local residents and business owners to install 24-hour surveillance in the district.

G Philly would like to know what you think of this proposal? Would around-the-clock surveillance make you feel safer? Or would these cameras violate your privacy? Share your comments below.
